The publication of the new Safety Advisory Group (SAG) Guidance has been postponed. It will now be released in early September 2026, alongside the HMICFRS Inquiry report into the role of SAGs during the Aston Villa vs Maccabi Tel Aviv football fixture.
Martyn’s Law Updates
With Martyn’s Law progressing, there are two important developments:

ProtectUK and Counter Terrorism Policing have launched an enhanced version of the free ACT Awareness e-Learning course.

ProtectUK has also introduced a new Counter Terrorism Security Roadmap, designed to help organisations strengthen their security arrangements through clear, step-by-step guidance and access to trusted resources.
Zero Hours Contract Consultation
The Government has opened a consultation on proposed changes affecting zero-hours contracts and agency workers.
The proposals include:
- A right to guaranteed hours based on regular working patterns.
- Reasonable notice of shifts.
- Compensation for shifts cancelled or changed at short notice.
The consultation closes on 25 August 2026.
Women in Events Survey
The Network of Women in Events (NOWIE) has launched its second industry-wide survey, focusing on safety, inclusion and workplace culture. The findings will help shape future initiatives aimed at creating a more inclusive and representative events industry.
